Welcome to Stanwick Village Residents' Group

We love our village and everything about it. To ensure it stays as beatiful peaceful and welcoming as it has always been, the Group has been established to support how the village grows. We are here to ensure that approaches by land developers are appropriate and to work with the Parish Council and East Northants Disctrict Council to ensure that all issues and matters related to the views of the community of Stanwick are correctly addressed.

Below are the most recent news updates related to our activities and progress on proposed changes to our community.

The Gladman Appeal...

It is now mid November and as the villagers of Stanwick will be aware, in September Gladman lodged an appeal against the decision by ENDC to reject their proposal to build on the land north of West Street. This slipped under the net and we were informed quite late by ENDC of that appeal.

Gladman left it until 2 days before the deadline to lodge an appeal and despite our calls to ENDC to check that they hadn't appealed, the information that they actually had wasn't put into the public domain very quickly by ENDC. They have also done this to our friends in Brigstock.

Since that time, Amanda has looked further into the situation and has discussed what it means to us by holding court with the planning team at the council offices.

The outcome of the discussion was that, right now, there is not a great deal we as a village need to do - the appeals process is a behemoth activity and it is mostly down to the Planning Authorities to now step up to the mark and hold firm on our behalf.

Thank you to those who have also contacted us both directly and through this site to let us know.

Since that time, the Neighbourhood Plan Policy review took place on the 7th November in the Village Hall. Following this, we have had additional volunteers to support further marketing activities.

As part of the Neighbourhood Plan a survey of parking issues is being undertaken. We all know there is parking congestion in the centre of the village but as teh Facebook page states, "its not enough to say ‘we know there is a problem’" so we are gathering evidence to form the backbone of a report. This is not 'secret information; anyone driving through the village will see the hi-vis jackets and will guess what is happening.

In respect of further objection opportunities, letters from the local Planning Authority were sent to all who objected giving them a deadline of 1st December to reinforce their previous statements and/or raise new objections.  That deadline looms so, please do put pen to paper and make your statements as sooon as possible!

We will do our best to keep you posted on this site but also look out for updates on our Facebook page!
